Cheesy Hamburger Casserole
1 lb ground beef
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup bell peppers, diced (red, green, and yellow)
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
2 tbsp olive oil
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the bell peppers, diced tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes.
- In a large baking dish, spread out half of the beef mixture. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Repeat with the remaining beef mixture and cheese.
- Top the casserole with breadcrumbs.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
