Ingredients: (for 10 people):
240 g of flour
180 g butter
250 g chocolate
5 eggs
120 g powdered sugar
1 sachet of baking powder
Decoration and topping :
2 tubes of smarties (260 g)
100 g chocolate (for decoration)
1 tablespoon of chocolate spread
Recipe:
Preheat the oven to 180°.
Place the chocolate squares and butter in a saucepan. Melt over very low heat (or in a double boiler). When the chocolate is melted, stir it until it becomes smooth.
Meanwhile, whisk together the eggs and sugar. Add flour and baking powder. Add the chocolate last and stir the dough until it is smooth.
Divide the dough between two well-buttered and floured 20 cm round molds.
Baking:
Bake the cakes for 25 minutes at 180°. They should have a nice golden crust on top. To check the cooking, stick a wooden pick in the dough, the pick must come out dry.
Assembly:
Let the cakes cool completely before starting. Place upside down (smooth side up) on serving plate. Cut a disk in the center of the cake with a knife and scoop out the inside with a small spoon. Don’t dig too deep, to avoid finding the cake underneath.
Fill the hole with smarties (for me a bottle and a half, the other half is for decoration). Spread some spread all around the cake so that the two cakes are held together.
Place the other cake (smooth side) on the first cake. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and pour it over the cake. Smooth with a spatula to spread evenly around the edges. Place smarties all over the cake. Let the frosting set in a cool place and then store the cake at room temperature.
The pretty table in the forest….
And when you cut it, a little “wow, there are even smarties inside!!!” effect. :p
