The Best Baked Spaghetti

6-8 ounces spaghetti about half a package-just the eyeball, it

2 tablespoons butter

1/3 cup parmesan cheese

2 eggs lightly beaten

1 pound ground beef or ground turkey

1 jar pasta sauce or you can use tomato sauce -1 can -just add Italian

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)

garlic salt

1 cup cottage cheese or riccota either one is great – we just use whatever is cheaper at the time – usually cottage cheese

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese or Italian blend


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brown ground beef. Add onions and green peppers. Cook until onions are tender.

Stir in pasta sauce and season with garlic salt.

Cook and drain spaghetti. Let cool slightly.

Stir in margarine, Parmesan cheese and eggs while spaghetti is hot. Form spaghetti mixture into crust in bottom of 9×13 pan (sprayed).

Spread ricotta cheese over the “crust”.

Pour beef mixture over crust and ricotta cheese.

Top with mozzarella cheese. Bake for 30 minutes.

Freezer safe: this is a recipe I like to double or triple. It doesn’t take much more work to double it. You can easily make one for now, then another to put in the freezer. If you do this for the freezer, don’t bake. Prepare the casserole. Then let it cool. Cover and freeze. To reheat: let thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Then bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes, covered.
