SMOKED SAUSAGE AND SAUERKRAUT

I first tried this dish at the house of an acquaintance of mine who specializes in German cuisine. It was from him that I learned how to make sauerkraut stew with smoked sausage. I used to eat sauerkraut on its own, add it to borscht or cabbage soup, and not use it in any other way. Now I make this dish often. You can use regular or smoked sausages, I used smoked sausage. This dish has a pleasant taste – when you want something with a sourness, it’s perfect!

Ingredients

Sauerkraut 300g
Smoked sausage 200g
Onions 100 g
Carrots 100g
Vegetable oil 50 g
Tomato paste 70g
Salt to taste

Steps

Peel and chop onion. Peel carrots and grate them.

Slice the sausage into slices.

Fry the sausage in a pan with vegetable oil on both sides for about 1 minute over medium heat.

Put vegetables.

Stir and stew for 5 minutes, stirring.

Add sauerkraut, salt and tomato paste.

Stir it.

Cover the pan with a lid and stew the cabbage on low heat for 15-20 minutes with stirring.

The dish is ready. Enjoy!

Braised sauerkraut with smoked sausage is a simple and delicious dish that does not require you a lot of time. A good combination of sauerkraut and smoked sausage will not leave you indifferent!
