Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread

Ingredients

1 loaf Italian bread
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 pound ribeye steak
Black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
Parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Take the lovely loaf of Italian bread and slice it lengthwise into two halves. Place each half, cut side up, on the baking sheet.
In a quaint little bowl, combine the minced garlic, softened butter, kosher salt, and pepper. Mix it well! Spread this satisfying mixture over the cut sides of the bread and put it aside.
Now, let’s prepare that mouthwatering ribeye steak. Slice it into thin strips and season it with a pinch of salt and pepper.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and butter. Once they become a glorious blend, introduce the thinly sliced onions. Let them cook and caramelize for about 10 to 15 minutes. If you’re adding green peppers, toss them in during the last five minutes of cooking.
When the onions and peppers are perfectly cooked, move them to a plate and cover to keep them warm.
In the same skillet, it’s time for the star of the show! Add the ribeye slices and use two spatulas to shred the meat while it cooks. This should take around 2 minutes until the meat is cooked but tender.
Now, for the grand assembly! Divide the ribeye evenly between the two halves of bread. Top generously with the caramelized onions, green peppers, and a heavenly sprinkle of shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Bake this treasure in the oven for 12 to 14 minutes or until it turns a lovely golden brown.
To finish, garnish with some freshly chopped parsley, slice into delightful portions, and serve warm.
